Anita Agajanian concentrates her practice on real estate acquisition, development, finance and leasing as well as the negotiation of construction contracts.

Anita has represented property owners and investors, national and regional developers, hospitals, universities and other institutions, office, retail and restaurant, high tech and biotech and industrial tenants, and public authorities in complex transactions.

Recent examples of Anita's clients include:

  • A national developer in its acquisition, disposition and financing of residential apartment and mixed use properties throughout the US
  • A hospital in a ground lease and development transaction for the ground-up construction of a major regional ambulatory surgery center in New Hampshire.
  • A developer in a complex transaction involving a sale and financing, ground lease, build-to-suit office lease and related development documents for the headquarters of an NGO in Washington, D.C.
  • A major property owner with more than US$2.7 billion in real estate assets, which representation includes multifamily housing development, major retail, office and industrial leases, acquisition and financing work, and construction contract advice nationally
  • A Boston-based property owner in its acquisition, disposition and financing work around the country
  • A national developer in its retail and office leasing work throughout the US, including major restaurant and retail leases and the lease-up of 566,000 SF and 220,000 SF office buildings
  • Developer clients in leases with Primark (139,000 SF retail lease – first U.S. location, Roche Bros. (37,000 urban grocery store lease), Apple (8,000 SF flagship store retail lease), Walmart (50,000 SF urban retail lease), Ikea (100,000 SF industrial lease) and other national and international retailers
  • A European grocery-store chain in connection with its expansion into the U.S., including retail lease negotiations and the negotiation of construction contracts

Civic and Charitable

Anita is a Director on the board of the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, serving on its Board Development Committee, and previously serving for over ten years on its Shattuck Awards Committee. In addition, she is a former board member of Riverside Children's Center, a former co-chair of the Leasing Committee of the Boston Bar Association's Real Estate Section and has served as a mentor for minority law students through the Boston Lawyers' Group.

Anita also serves as co-chair of DLA Piper's Diversity Committee for the Boston office.
