Niels Hoffmann has been active in the field of white-collar crime law for over 20 years - both in defence of individuals and in advising injured parties. He has broad and profound experience in conducting internal investigations and in advising on compliance matters.
His particular expertise lies in the area of criminal prosecution and defence in cases of intellectual property infringement in synergetic interlocking with civil law, in particular cases of infringement of trade and business secrets, trademark piracy and patent infringement.

Prior to joining DLA Piper in 2020, Niels has worked for a law firm specialising in appeals on points of law in Karlsruhe (1995-1998), then with a boutique in white-collar crime law in Düsseldorf (1998-2010), was a partner in a white-collar crime law boutique in Wiesbaden (2010-2012), before founding his own firm from 2013.
