Using the ITC and Section 337 to protect valuable brands
Thank you for joining DLA Piper for an overview on the International Trade Commission (“ITC”) and the important role it plays in US intellectual property disputes. We reviewed Section 337, the trade statute that permits the ITC to block importation of foreign-manufactured goods that infringe on US intellectual property rights or otherwise unfairly compete in the US market. We discussed ways to utilize the ITC to protect your brand through various intellectual property claims as well as other types of unfair competition. Likewise, we touched on key strategic considerations in deciding whether and when to bring a Section 337 complaint.
