About

Scott Murray is a commercial litigator and business advisor with close to 30 years of experience in government, law firm and corporate legal departments, handling U.S. and international litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters, especially involving antitrust, class action, consumer protection and technology law.

Most recently, he was in-house counsel at a large consumer technology company, where for 10 years he managed a docket of commercial litigation, arbitrations, and regulatory disputes that included matters in over 20 countries around the world. Within that time, he was part of 2 trial teams that defended against antitrust claims in U.S. federal court, managed a team of attorneys focused primarily on litigation brought by consumers, and oversaw the defense of numerous U.S. and international class actions. He also appeared before government regulators in numerous countries to defend against consumer protection-related investigations. In addition, he provided advice to business and product development teams regarding litigation avoidance, pre-litigation disputes, and consumer protection issues.

Prior to moving in-house, in addition to litigation matters, Scott’s practice regularly included providing antitrust and competition business conduct advice.

Prior to joining DLA Piper and his in-house tenure, Scott’s experience includes being: a Member in the Litigation group at an east coast-based AmLaw200 law firm; a Senior Associate in the Antitrust Group at a top 100 international law firm; and a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division (Telecommunications Task Force) of the US Department of Justice.
