DLA Piper is a global law firm operating through various separate and distinct legal entities. The National Partnership is a partnership that carries on business in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia (ABN: 83508451308). Regulation
Unless otherwise indicated, all lawyers at DLA Piper Australia's offices are admitted to practice as Legal Practitioners in Australia and regulated by the professional body in the State or Territory in which their respective office is located (some lawyers are admitted in more than one State or Territory).
Regulation of Legal Practitioners is undertaken by a variety of State-based bodies including the following:
- Brisbane: (Solicitor) Queensland Law Society
- Melbourne: (Solicitor and Barrister) Law Institute of Victoria
- Perth: (Solicitor and Barrister) Legal Practice Board of Western Australia
- Sydney: (Solicitor) Law Society of New South Wales

The word "partner" is used to refer to a partner in one or both the separate partnerships constituting DLA Piper Australia, or an employee or consultant with equivalent standing and qualifications, and to a partner, member, director, employee or consultant in another DLA Piper practising entity who has equivalent standing.
Professional liability insurance
Our professional indemnity insurer is QBE Lloyd's Syndicate 1886 & others, whose address is 30 Fenchurch Street, London, EC3M 3BD. This insurance covers our practices in the United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Africa and Asia and extends to acts and omissions wherever they occur in the world.
In certain jurisdictions professional indemnity insurance is required to be placed locally in accordance with statute or regulation. Where there are such requirements we have policies in place to meet these obligations, details of which can be supplied on request. Please contact us.
