DLA Piper recognized as one of the Most Innovative Law Firms in North America by the Financial Times

Firm named winner of Innovation in New Services to Manage Risk category

DLA Piper is pleased to announce the firm has received the Innovation in New Services to Manage Risk award in the 2024 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America report. The firm was recognized in a total of four individual categories in addition to being ranked among the most innovative law firms in 2024.

In the Innovation in New Services to Manage Risk category, DLA Piper was recognized for its groundbreaking service innovations in generative AI, including legal red teaming and Proactive Compliance as a Service (PCaaS). The firm’s AI & Data Analytics practice is a cross-functional, industry-unique team of attorneys, data scientists, statisticians and software developers with the ability to build proprietary AI tools and conduct technical work to meet the legal needs of its clients.

The firm was also recognized in the Innovation in People & Skills category in recognition of its efforts to develop the next generation of patent litigators and International Trade Commission attorney talent. These efforts have included leading the charge in creating and helping administer the ITC’s first-ever mock trial program and launching the industry’s first comprehensive litigation and trial training program focused specifically on patent litigation.

DLA Piper was named a finalist in the Innovative Lawyers in Pro Bono shortlist for its role in the successful resolution of a voting rights lawsuit brought on behalf of the Navajo Nation, the Navajo Nation Human Rights Commission and individual Navajo voters in San Juan County, New Mexico, led by senior counsel Ray Williams. The victory is a significant step in protecting voting rights for Indigenous people in New Mexico, as the suppression of their voting power has made it harder to achieve important policy priorities, such as providing and maintaining critical infrastructure on Navajo Nation land.

Finally, DLA Piper Co-US Managing Partner Jackie Park was named a finalist in the Legal Intrapreneur category in recognition of her leadership in helping implement best-in-class technical development, leadership development, and mentorship and sponsorship programs. By investing in this overhaul of the firm’s talent development landscape, DLA Piper has seen a significant boost in its retention of associates and partners.

“Innovation is a core value across every practice and department of our firm, and it’s an honor to be recognized again by the Financial Times for our creativity in the pursuit of outstanding results for our clients and communities,” said Frank Ryan, DLA Piper’s Global Co-Chair.

For eight consecutive years, DLA Piper has been lauded by the Financial Times as one of the top legal innovators in North America.
