DLA Piper strengthens global Restructuring offering with appointment of Sandra Esquiva-Hesse

Global law firm, DLA Piper, today announces the appointment of Sandra Esquiva-Hesse as partner in its Paris office, effective 02 December 2024.

Joining from Simmons & Simmons, Sandra is a well-established and highly respected Restructuring & Special Situations partner and will support the firm's global Restructuring practice, along with two associates Amélie Gorphe and Alexandre Gratio.

Qualified in New York and Paris, Sandra brings vast experience in the international restructuring market and has advised a range of well-known brands on cross-border and special situation matters. Her appointment to DLA Piper's highly regarded global Restructuring practice reflects the increase in client engagements and mandates secured as businesses look to secure their futures in the face of higher interest rates, lower consumer confidence, and broader spending cuts.

Her appointment follows others strategic hires across the firm's European Restructuring practice, including Adam Plainer in London, and Sven Schelo in Frankfurt.

Colin Wilson, International Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Finance practice, commented: “Sandra's appointment is one of strategic importance to our Finance group, and global Restructuring team. As a highly respected and connected lawyer across multiple markets, Sandra and her team will enable our firm's growing global Restructuring practice to support clients across a range of sectors with special situation and complex restructuring matters."

Chris Parker Global Co-Chair of Restructuring, DLA Piper added: "Sandra brings a highly sought after skillset with her and will enable our global Restructuring practice to offer a broader skillset to a wider range of international clients. Sandra's appointment, which follows recent appointments in London and Frankfurt, of Adam Plainer and Sven Schelo, further highlights our commitment to bringing leading partners into our global facing team to support our clients with their stressed and distressed needs across multiple borders."

Sandra is well connected within the wider industry and supports several good causes. She is a member of the French board and President of the International Women’s Forum, and a member of the board of trustees of the Hertford British Charitable Fund and Hertford British Hospital Foundation.
