Michael practices in litigation and dispute resolution advising domestic and international clients on a broad range of contentious commercial matters including property, insurance, financial services and planning disputes.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a global nutrition company in a Commercial Court dispute arising from the supply of contaminated molasses products.
  • Acting for an aircraft lessor in a Commercial Court dispute concerning payments under an aviation leasing agreement.
  • Acting on behalf of a wind farm developer in High Court litigation and successfully obtaining injunctive relief against adjoining landowners who prevented access to the wind farm site during construction.*
  • Advising insurer clients in the defence of High Court professional negligence proceedings issued against insured parties including law firms and accounting firms.*
  • Advising a number of Irish and international financial institutions in respect of the financing of renewable energy projects across Ireland. Michael advises on planning risks associated with permitted solar farms, wind farms and associated grid connections including issues related to environmental impact assessment, Habitats Directive / appropriate assessment, section 5 declarations and exempted development.*
  • Advising on landlord and tenant disputes including rent and service charge disputes and compensation claims for disturbance.
  • Advising clients in a wide range of sectors on product liability issues and health and safety issues, including regulatory investigations, risk management and crisis management.
  • Acting on behalf of a developer as a notice party in High Court judicial review proceedings issued in respect of a decision by An Bord Pleanala to grant planning permission for a strategic housing development in Dublin.*
