About

Alexander Schultmeyer advises Austrian and international clients both in the banking and finance sector as well as the energy sector. His further areas of expertise include real estate law, all aspects of commercial law (contracts), dispute resolution (litigation, arbitration) and compliance.

His practice covers the entire financial services and project finance area (including real estate transactions and finance, M&A transactions and restructuring projects) including regulatory issues relating to banking and investment law. Alexander is experienced in energy and infrastructure projects, not least due to his in-house experience, in particular in M&A transactions as well as in electricity generation (both conventional and renewable energy sources) as well as electricity trading and sales. His practice also extends to certificate trading and energy law regulatory issues, with a focus on cross-border projects and transactions.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a Berlin based FinTech company builder regarding compliance. Especially implementing an entire compliance management system (CMS) (including the drafting of all relevant guidelines on and internal codes) as well as advising the client on the assessment of compliance risks and mitigating risk measures.
  • Advising a Korean investment consortium in connection with the purchase of the “Hilton Parkview” in Vienna.
  • Advising a major Austrian Bank on the purchase of a wind-park in Lower Austria, Austria including corporate and energy law DD.
  • Advising on development and construction of a 68 MW floating PV facility in Albania.
  • Advising the EU on its EnviroLENS (Copernicus for environmental law enforcement) project aiming to use of Earth Observation (EO) energy and environmental law purposes.
  • Advising a British company the accession to EPEX and EXAA and the licensing requirements for starting energy trading in Austria.
  • Advising an Austrian company on the development and construction of their commercial PV structure regards financing and energy law.
  • Advising a major Austrian credit institution on the restructuring of several real estate projects (hotels, office parks) in Austria as well CEE/SEE Croatia and Serbia.
  • Regular advise to a major electricity company on Austrian regulatory aspects regarding electricity trading.
  • Advising an Austrian company in connection with a the purchase of leading locomotives producer in Germany.
