Nick Panno focuses his practice on intellectual property strategy, primarily in the software and electrical arts. Nick helps clients develop IP portfolio strategies and follow through with IP protection, including foreign and domestic patent prosecution, validity and freedom-to-operate opinions, patent litigation, patent licensing, and IP due diligence.
Nick primarily focuses on software, and electrical IP, with particular emphasis on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain, and automation. Nick represents clients in patent matters involving a wide range of industries and technical fields, such as e-commerce, banking and accounting, encryption, cyber security, social networking, telecommunications, network management, HVAC equipment and control systems, consumer electronics and electronic component fabrication.
Nick is a regular lecturer or fundamental topics of US patent law at the Japan Intellectual Property Association seminar for trainee patent agents, and Nick has also presented several CLE lectures on developing patent issues.
