Stephanie Kolla's practice focuses on commercial litigation and privacy law. She is called to the bar in ‎Ontario, Alberta, and New York State. ‎

Rooted in her in-house experience, Stephanie brings a business-centred and client-focused perspective to ‎her practice. ‎

Her litigation practice centres on Commercial List litigation, including complex public and private company ‎disputes, ‎merger and acquisition litigation and securities litigation. Stephanie was co-counsel for the issuer ‎in ‎Canada’s first Material Adverse Effect (MAE) case, in the context of COVID-19. ‎

Stephanie has represented clients and assisted senior counsel before all levels of Court in Alberta and ‎‎various levels of court in Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada. She has also acted as lead counsel to ‎‎international companies before international and domestic commercial arbitration panels.‎

As senior legal counsel at an international performance luxury brand, Stephanie managed and strengthened ‎the brand’s privacy compliance under GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA. She advised the business on a range ‎of complex data protection issues particularly around e-commerce compliance, data collection, ‎commercial exploitation, and corporate governance. In addition, Stephanie negotiated a range of privacy ‎related commercial and SaaS agreements.‎

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Stephanie worked for the Department of Canadian Heritage in Copyright Policy. ‎‎Before attending law school, she worked at the Walter Phillips Gallery in Banff. She continues to be an ‎active participant in the arts community and works as ‎a volunteer lawyer for the National Network of Legal ‎Clinics for the Arts. ‎
