Robert Fonn practises corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions, in particular domestic and cross-border transactions. Robert represents investment dealers, private equity sponsors, venture capital funds and a broad range of public and private companies in diverse industries. Robert counsels corporations in all aspects of corporate and securities matters, including stock exchange listings and dealings with provincial securities commissions. He also advises reporting issuers in connection with securities compliance and corporate governance.
Howard Krupat leads the Canadian firm’s construction law practice and has extensive experience as counsel on complex construction disputes. Howard is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and a former Chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Construction and Infrastructure Section Executive. He is also Chair of the Allied Professions Committee of the Toronto Construction Association. Howard has served as an appointed member of the Advisory Panel for the Province of Ontario’s Construction Lien Act Review. He regularly speaks at conferences on construction law.
Alan Macek has a well-regarded intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution practice, with a focus on electrical and computer-related technology. He has litigated cases in the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court and the Alberta Court of Appeal and his experience in litigation often involves cross-border proceedings. Alan is frequently invited to speak on intellectual property topics including issues for emerging technology such as blockchain/cryptocurrencies and AI/machine learning. He publishes the IPPractice.ca blog on developments in intellectual property in Canada.
Sangeetha Punniyamoorthy is well-known for litigating intellectual property disputes and leads the Canadian Intellectual Property and Technology Group. She has appeared as counsel in two appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as in matters before the Federal Court, the Ontario Court, and the Competition Tribunal. Sangeetha is a regular speaker, a published author, and an active member of the intellectual property community. She has also chaired various committees with the Ontario Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
Bruce Stratton has immense experience in patent, trade-mark and copyright litigation with a particular emphasis on patent disputes concerning computer-related technology. Bruce has been counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada in cases that have resolved fundamental issues of patent and trade-mark law. Author of the Annotated Patent Act, Bruce is frequently invited to speak and write on diverse topics in IP law. He is the lead instructor for graduate courses offered by Osgoode Hall Law School and by the University of Toronto.
Kevin Wright heads the firm’s Competition and Antitrust practice and is a member of the White Collar group. His practice encompasses all aspects of competition law; he regularly engages in merger review, defence of complex criminal and civil investigations, litigating disputes, advancing complaints and structuring compliance. He has been lead counsel in the defence of over 30 class actions across the country. Kevin is an active contributor and leader within the Canadian Bar Association’s Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review Section. For 14 years he has taught competition law as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia’s Allard School of Law.
