DLA Piper advises MKS Instruments on USD4.4 bn acquisition of Atotech

DLA Piper has advised MKS Instruments, Inc., a global provider of technologies that enable advanced processes and improved productivity, on closing its USD4.4bn acquisition of Jersey-based Atotech Limited. Atotech is a leading process chemicals technology company and market leader in advanced electroplating solutions, backed by buyout firm Carlyle Group Inc.

The deal will expand MKS’s offerings in chip manufacturing through the addition of Atotech’s plating chemicals. Atotech’s leadership in functional and decorative surface finishing will also extend MKS’s product offering for industrial applications and grow its market reach.

“This is a major strategic transaction for MKS, so it is hugely satisfying for the team to see it through to completion.”
