DLA Piper announces the promotion of energy and infrastructure lawyer Adam Haque to its UAE partnership

DLA Piper is proud to announce the promotion of Adam Haque to its partnership effective 1 May 2022. The promotion takes the firm’s Middle East partner headcount to 29, with Adam amongst 74 lawyers to have been promoted to DLA Piper’s partnership globally.

Based in the Dubai office and a key member of the broader finance, projects and restructuring team, Adam has over seven years experience in the region where he advises governments and developers, as well as both local and international lenders on many ‘first-of-its-kind’ utility and infrastructure projects. Adam has been a key contributor to the growth of the renewables sector in the region and is currently leading strategic mandates to deliver efficiency and sustainability in the region’s water sector.

Commenting on the promotion, Regional Managing Partner, Middle East and Africa, Peter Somekh, said: “Adam is a talented lawyer and a key member of our Middle East team. His enthusiasm, high quality legal advice and excellent service to our clients embodies the firm’s values. Adam has spent a substantial part of his career with DLA Piper and has helped grow our regional offering, particularly in the increasingly important renewable energy space. I am delighted to welcome Adam to our partnership.”

In addition to Adam’s promotion to partnership, the firm has announced the promotion of Dubai-based projects lawyer, Mona Hammadi, to Legal Director. Mona advises on the development and project financing of major infrastructure projects throughout the region and has specialist in-depth understanding of the Saudi Arabian energy and utilities sectors. Her promotion also further supports the growth of the projects practice.

Five Associates have also been promoted to Senior Associate across the Middle East.

Peter continued: “Our recent promotions are particularly pleasing as they are testament to our ability to develop a future generation of lawyers from within the region and reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening our Middle East offering, which now boasts over 120 lawyers. I extend my congratulations to Adam and all of our recently promoted lawyers on their achievement and look forward to their continued contribution to the firm.”

Adam Haque comments: “I am honoured to have been promoted to the DLA Piper partnership. Working with a market leading projects team in the evolving utilities sector has provided me with the opportunity to learn from experienced lawyers and clients both across the Middle East and internationally. I am proud to be part of a diverse team that is at the forefront of significant projects which are shaping the region's exciting approach to renewable energy and sustainable development.”
