DLA Piper advises Paradox in its US$200 million Series C financing

DLA Piper represented Paradox, Inc., a global conversational recruiting software firm that helps companies simplify hiring through automation with a human touch, in its US$200 million Series C financing. The round was led by Stripes, Sapphire Ventures and Thoma Bravo, and included participation from Workday Ventures, Indeed, Twilio Ventures, Willoughby Capital, Blue Cloud Ventures, Geodesic, Principia Growth, DLA Piper Venture Fund, and current investor Brighton Park Capital.

Serving global clients with hiring needs across high-volume hourly and high-skilled professional roles, Paradox streamlines tasks like screening and interview scheduling through mobile-first interactions with its conversational assistant, Olivia.

“Having represented Paradox since its inception barely more than five years ago, and now handling its legal needs in over 20 countries around the world, DLA Piper is excited to play a role in the company’s success, and I could not be happier for the outstanding Paradox team,” said David Lewis, the managing partner of DLA Piper’s Phoenix office and lead outside counsel to Paradox.

“DLA Piper has been our trusted legal partner since Paradox was just an idea and has helped guide us through an incredible period of growth and change,” said Aaron Matos, Paradox’s founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Their deep capabilities representing emerging companies through all stages of growth, their broad global platform, and their exceptional client service make DLA Piper a perfect fit for a company with our vision and goals.”

“DLA Piper is deeply committed to our success,” said Stephanie King, Chief Legal Officer of Paradox and former DLA Piper Corporate partner. “Once again, their high performing, collaborative team has helped Paradox achieve a tremendous outcome.”

In addition to Lewis, the DLA Piper team representing Paradox included associate Vincent Schiavoni (also of Phoenix).
