DLA Piper represented Sawafi Al-Jazeera Oilfield Products and Services Co. Ltd., a leading provider of upstream oil and gas services to the Saudi Arabian energy industry, in its simultaneous acquisitions of Newsco International Energy Services USA Inc. and Telemetrix USA Inc.

Sawafi was established in 2013 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Khalid Ali Alturki & Sons Holding Company to market and deliver highly differentiated technology products and their associated services to the upstream oil and gas industry in Saudi Arabia. Sawafi partners with oilfield product and service companies from around the world to provide its services.

“Our extensive experience in energy sector M&A, coupled with our dedicated cross-border team, was instrumental in completing this strategic acquisition for Sawafi, which will allow our client to provide a broader range of advanced solutions to its customers,” said Steven Bartz, the DLA Piper partner who led the firm’s deal team along with restructuring partner James Muenker and DLA Piper (Canada) LLP counsel Patrick Burgess.

In addition to Bartz and Muenker (both of Dallas) and Burgess (Calgary), the DLA Piper team representing Sawafi included partners Danish Hamid, Thomas deButts (both of Washington, DC), Lisa Hillman (Boston), Trevor Wong-Chor (Calgary), David Spratley (Vancouver) and Tim Sunar (Manama, Bahrain); counsel Carole Hunter (Calgary); of counsel Michael Massiatte (Dallas); associate counsel Richard Mar (Toronto); and associates Rahul Sajnani (Los Angeles), Sarah Nabors (Houston), Katie Lee (New York) and Matthew Pollock (Calgary).

With more than 1,000 corporate lawyers globally, DLA Piper helps clients execute complex cross-border transactions seamlessly while supporting clients across all stages of development. The firm has been rated number one in global M&A volume for 11 consecutive years, according to Mergermarket.
