Episode 3: The impact of Environmental, Social and Governance factors on corporates

In this episode we discuss the impact of Environmental, Social and Governance factors on your business, and the growing regulations around ESG. We’ll talk specifically about ESG in relation to your compliance programme and what to be aware of to limit your exposure to the growing regulation and litigation in this area.

Patrick Rappo (Co-Chair of Global Compliance & Investigations at DLA Piper) speaks with colleagues Maurice Burke (Head of Investigations - Asia) and Christian Schoop (Partner, Frankfurt), as well as former colleague Sarah Ellington (former Legal Director, London) to get their views on ESG trends across the regions.

The Business Guide to Climate Disputes is intended to support global businesses to analyse and incorporate climate risks and opportunities into their strategy and risk management. The guide explores themes which arise from climate litigation risk, and the types of disputes that can be expected to arise with increasing frequency.

Climate change has different impacts on different sectors. Accordingly, the guide is organised across the firm’s ten sectors and includes insight from sector experts across our international offices.

The guide also complements the climate action we are taking in our own business. We have committed to a science-based target which requires us to halve our global business greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and we are the first law firm anywhere in the world to sign a corporate power purchase agreement.

DLA Piper are also proudly supporting broader climate action through our pro bono and other efforts. We were appointed by the UK Government as the provider of Legal Services for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and we are a founding member of the Legal Sustainability Alliance, and the recently established Net Zero Lawyers Alliance.
