About

Paul Shadle is a partner in DLA Piper's Development, Land Use and Government Affairs practice group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of general real estate development transactions (including acquisitions, financings and dispositions), land use and zoning, public-private finance and incentives for development and facilities location, historic preservation/adaptive reuse, corporate real estate services, and government affairs. Mr. Shadle represents owners, developers, investors, lenders, retailers and a variety of entrepreneurial and institutional clients in complex real estate, private and public financing, annexation, zoning and government-related matters for mixed-use/ sports/entertainment, residential, retail, industrial and office development projects, with a focus on public/private partnerships.

  • Representation of institutional owner of large regional mall in obtaining public incentive financing and land use approvals for conversion of mall to high-end regional retail center and 2,000+ unit multi-family residential community
  • Representation of National Football League club in real estate and public/private partnership matters related to development of a new stadium
  • Representation of Major League Baseball team in real estate, historic preservation, land use and public financing matters related to comprehensive stadium rehabilitation and development of an adjacent mixed-use commercial project
  • Representation of hotel developer in obtaining land use entitlements and tax incentives for rehabilitation and additions to Chicago Landmark structures on North and South Michigan Avenue
