Four promotions to counsel at DLA Piper in Poland

Four lawyers from DLA Piper's Warsaw office have been promoted to counsel - Magdalena Koniarska, an expert in data protection, IP and new technologies, Dominika Nowak specialising in employment law, Piotr Falarz from the white-collar crime team, and Michał Gintowt from the commercial law, mergers and acquisitions team.

“The latest promotions are in recognition of the hard work and professionalism of Magdalena, Dominika, Piotr, and Michał. The promoted persons are talented professionals who enjoy the trust of their clients and colleagues,” said Krzysztof Kycia, co-managing partner of DLA Piper in Warsaw.

DLA Piper has been one of the leading law firms in Poland for 15 years. The Warsaw team comprises over 120 lawyers and tax advisors. Promotions to the position of counsel are another pool of promotions that has been announced this year.

Magdalena Koniarska is an attorney at law and a member of the Intellectual Property and New Technologies Practice. She supports clients in matters concerning personal data protection, provision of electronic services, telecommunications law, new technologies and intellectual property. She deals with, among others, drafting contracts, clauses, policies, legal development of innovative products, conducting proceedings before the Office for Personal Data Protection), as well as developing electronic marketing solutions, targeting and profiling. She also advises companies on data protection in the context of anti-money laundering (AML) laws, banking law, insurance law, labor law, e-commerce and intellectual property law.

Dominika Nowak is a legal adviser and member of the employment law practice. She has many years of experience in providing services to international companies in the area of labour law, in particular with respect to legal support for their establishment and expansion in the Polish market. She advises, among others, on issues related to working time, termination of employment, material and management liability of employees, outsourcing, discrimination and mobbing. She also advises on dispute resolution, both amicably and through the courts, and supports clients in migration-related matters, in particular with respect to the posting of Polish and foreign workers and the legalization of their residence and work.

Piotr Falarz is an attorney and a member of the white-collar crime practice. He specializes in conducting internal investigations, advising on the Anti-Money Laundering Act, terrorist financing and compliance. He also advises clients on issues related to combating cybercrime. In addition, he assists clients in risk management matters and in legal disputes and business corruption matters. He helps clients implement preventive measures in the form of, among others, anti-corruption programs, internal procedures including AML, training and crisis management instructions. Performs detailed assessments of business risks associated with corruption and failure to meet regulatory requirements and assists in mitigating them.

Michał Gintowt is an advocate and a member of the Commercial Law, M&A and Corporate Law Practice Group. He specializes in providing comprehensive services in domestic and cross-border M&A and VC transactions, in particular in the IT and new technologies sector. He advises leading private equity and venture capital funds, global corporations as well as start-ups and venture builders. He has also participated in preparing public offerings, issuing debt securities, and in implementing joint-venture structures with international strategic investors.
