Sandra Wallace receives CBE in the 2022 New Year Honours List

DLA Piper’s Joint Managing Director, UK and Europe, Sandra Wallace has been included in the 2022 New Year Honours List with a CBE award.

The CBE was awarded for services to law and social mobility, following a legal career spanning nearly thirty years and active roles in the advancement of socio-economic diversity including as interim co-chair of the UK Government’s Social Mobility Commission, the City of London’s co-chair of the socio-economic diversity taskforce and Pro-Chancellor for Social Mobility from her alma mater, Wolverhampton University. Sandra is also heavily involved with DLA Piper’s efforts to increase social mobility within the firm, its community outreach programmes to address social inequality and with awareness raising activities to support disadvantaged groups.

Simon Levine, Global Co-CEO at DLA Piper, commented: “This is an incredibly well-deserved award and I couldn’t be more proud of Sandra’s achievements. Not only is she a first-class lawyer and Managing Director on our Executive, but she’s doing all she can to shift the needle on social mobility in the UK. The work that Sandra does both in the firm and outside of it is truly inspirational and she is a role-model for our values. Sandra is a shining example that people from any walk of life and with any lived experience can achieve great things and reach their potential. She is working hard to ensure that is the norm rather than the exception, and is making a real difference in creating a fairer and more equitable society.”

The honour was approved by Her Majesty The Queen following a recommendation made by the Prime Minister on the advice of the Main Honours Committee, which undertook an independent assessment to review the joint nomination from the Cabinet Office and the Social Mobility Commission.

Sandra will receive the CBE insignia in person at an investiture held by a Member of the Royal Family in due course.
