What Business Should Expect from a Labour Government

Tuesday, 5 September 2023
12:30 – 13:30 BST

Joining instructions will be sent prior to the event.

With less than 18 months until the next UK General Election, in which many commentators and pollsters predict a change of government, DLA Piper is bringing together a panel of speakers to share insights and practical tips to help you prepare for and navigate the potential implications of a Labour administration for your business.

Join us for this exclusive online webinar focusing on “What Business Should Expect from a Labour Government” where our speakers will discuss Labour’s five missions for government, which will underpin its manifesto to the country. Keir Starmer has committed to working in partnership with industry to deliver these missions and we will set out the opportunities available to businesses to engage with Labour Party policymakers on the issues that matter to you.

There will be an opportunity to actively participate during the session by asking questions to the panel.

The distinguished speakers for this webinar are:

  • Lord Gavin Barwell: Lord Barwell is a senior consultant to DLA Piper. He served as Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister from June 2017 to July 2019 during one of the most turbulent periods in British political history. Prior to his appointment as Chief of Staff, he was the Member of Parliament for Croydon Central from May 2010 until June 2017 and a Government Minister from October 2013 until June 2017, initially a Whip and then Minister of State for Housing & Planning and Minister for London.

  • Lord Iain McNicol: Lord McNicol has been a Labour peer since July 2018. Between 2011-2018 he was General Secretary of the Labour Party following a long career in the trade union movement.

  • Daniel Jones: Daniel is a Senior Associate in our Global Trade and Government Affairs Team.

They will be in conversation with DLA Piper’s Head of Public Law, Emma Dowden-Teale.
