About

Charis Fergusson is an Associate in the Employment group at DLA Piper.

She has experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious work for clients across sectors. She routinely advises on day-to-day employment issues including drafting and negotiating key contractual documents, as well as supporting on multiple cross-border projects. She also acts for clients at all stages of the tribunal process including claims for discrimination, unfair dismissal and whistleblowing. Charis' practice also involves advising on the emergent field of business and human rights and matters relating to sustainability & ESG.

Whilst training at DLA Piper, Charis spent six months on secondment with The HEINEKEN Company.

Charis is committed to access to justice and pro bono work, spending six months working in DLA Piper's climate and biodiversity practice in 2023 which included a part-time secondment as Legal Counsel to Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

Charis also regularly advises clients who have been forcibly displaced, preparing family reunion applications and pre-action protocol letters. She also worked directly with commercial clients of the firm to pioneer collaborative pro bono and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

  • Advising a public body on a complex, high-value employment tribunal remedy hearing in respect of unfair dismissal and disability discrimination.
  • Advising a facilities management company on various employment tribunal proceedings involving complex claims of unfair dismissal, race discrimination and
  • Advising National Grid Electricity Operator Limited (NGESO) on its separation from National Grid for sale to the UK Government, including reviewing an extensive portfolio of employment contracts and policies.
  • Advising Noble Foods, supplier of fresh food brands to retailers and consumers, on the disposal of its premium chilled dessert brand Gü Puds to Exponent Private Equity.
