Mariana Jardim is a lawyer with over 15 years of experience in advising clients in complex regulatory and M&A matters related to the (re)insurance business in Brazil. She is also a professor in (Re)insurance Law and Corporate Law and holds a Master’s degree from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, a top-ranked university in Latin America.

EXPERIENCE

With solid knowledge and experience in (Re)insurance and Corporate Law, with more than 18 years of experience in the legal and regulatory framework of the (re)insurance sector, Mariana focuses her practice on advising clients on mergers & acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, including the required regulatory approvals before the (re)insurance regulator; claims handling and coverage issues; the negotiation of insurance policies; the structuring and review of insurance products and program design and review; the analysis and negotiation of agreements related to insurance and reinsurance operations, including insurance distribution structures; the incorporation, licensing and maintenance of insurers and reinsurers in Brazil; and all aspects of (re)insurance regulation, compliance, corporate governance and market conduct, including representing clients in administrative proceedings before local (re)insurance regulator.

  • She holds an LLB (2007) Degree in Law from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ, is post-graduated in Corporate Law by Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro and holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Law and Economic Activities from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro – UERJ
