DLA Piper welcomes back leading data and cybersecurity lawyer Simon Persoff

Global law firm DLA Piper has announced the appointment of Simon Persoff as a partner in its global data protection, privacy and cybersecurity practice.

Simon joins the firm's London office from Clifford Chance, where he was a partner and co-head of its UK data protection and cybersecurity practice, and executive co-sponsor of its Enable affinity network. Prior to this, Simon was a Senior Consultant in DLA Piper's data protection, privacy and cybersecurity team.

Simon's appointment to DLA Piper's highly regarded data protection, privacy and cybersecurity practice reflects an increased client demand as global data and cyber risks, and complex regulatory landscapes, continue to dominate boardroom discussions. Simon is an outstanding data and cybersecurity lawyer, having built a significant practice in both the regulatory and transactional arenas, notably in the financial services, life sciences and technology sectors.

Paul Allen, partner and global co-chair of DLA Piper's IP and Technology practice, said: "Our data, privacy and cyber practice continues to operate as a critical element of the firm's full-service offering. The complexity, divergence, and high-stakes enforcement of new and evolving legal regimes in the data and AI space continues to present significant financial and reputational risk to our clients globally. Simon has a strong reputation for advising on complex and high value data protection and cybersecurity mandates. Simon’s timely re-joining and the growth of the group, reflects our clients' demand for the quality and security the team continues to deliver. We look forward to the positive impact Simon's role will undoubtedly have on our group, our clients, and the continued growth of the Firm."

Simon Persoff added: "It is an exciting, if busy, time for data and cyber practitioners steering clients through a complex and ever-shifting landscape of AI evolution, prevalent cyber risks, the pace of the global data economy and growing scrutiny from regulators and consumers alike. Having previously worked at DLA Piper during the white heat of GDPR, I know the team well and greatly respect the achievements of its global data and cybersecurity practice. I am thrilled to be re-joining DLA Piper and look forward to continue building on the deserved reputation for technical excellence, commerciality and collegiality the team has cultivated."
