DLA Piper advises PodX on Platform Media acquisition

Global law firm DLA piper has once again advised global podcast group PodX, this time on the acquisition of next-generation media company Platform Media. The deal will bring Platform Media’s award-winning content and multi-channel approach into PodX’s international network of podcast companies. It marks the latest in a series of international acquisitions for PodX as advised by DLA Piper, including those of Goldhawk and Listen Entertainment in the UK, Nouvelles Ecoutes in France, and Posta in Argentina.

The deal will mark Stockholm-based PodX’s most significant investment to-date upon completion, with the initial valuation surpassing eight figures. Platform Media, and its original content label Folding Pocket, have produced some of the UK’s most popular podcasts and delivered brand and broadcast content with the likes of Amazon Music, Audible, BBC, Domino’s, EFL, NFL, Paramount, Red Bull, Simply Be, Spotify, Vodafone, and William Hill.

Alexander Kolmakov, partner at DLA Piper, comments: “It’s been great to work once again with the PodX on this latest strategic investment. With the obvious synergies between Platform Media’s success in the UK podcast market, and PodX’s growing international footprint, we look forward to seeing the success of this new venture.”

The DLA Piper team advising PodX comprised Corporate partner and matter lead Alexander Kolmakov, with support from associate Phillipa Parkinson, and tax advice from partner David Smith legal director Jesse Dalton.
