DLA Piper advises Kingsrose Mining on its alliance with BHP

Global law firm DLA Piper is advising Kingsrose Mining Limited (ASX:KRM) on its industry leading alliance with BHP via the entry into two alliance agreements with a wholly owned subsidiary of BHP (Alliances). Whereby BHP will provide funding for regional mineral exploration across areas of interest in Norway and Finland. This Alliance follows on from Kingsrose's participation in BHP's accelerator program, BHP Xplor. DLA Piper advised Kingsrose on its participation in the BHP Xplor program.

Kingsrose, an exploration company who holds tenements throughout Norway and Finland, will utilise BHP's funding across these mineral belts with the objective of discovering Tier-1 mineral deposits, whilst continuing to advance independently its Råna nickel-copper-cobalt project and Penikat PGE-nickel-copper project.

This Alliance is the first collaboration BHP have had flowing from the Xplor Program, which is a six-month accelerator program for early stage explorers to find the critical resources necessary to drive the energy transition.

“Execution of the BHP alliance agreements represents a significant milestone for Kingsrose given this will allow Kingsrose's asset portfolio to benefit from BHP's considerable experience in exploration and project development whilst continuing to focus on the development of its core interests in the Råna and Penikat projects,” said Perth-based James Nicholls, Corporate Partner, DLA Piper.

DLA Piper's team was led by Nick Sceales (Special Counsel, Projects) and James Nicholls (Partner, Corporate) with assistance from Emily Eardley (Solicitor, Corporate).

For the 14th consecutive year, DLA Piper was the highest-ranked legal advisor in the world for M&A deal volume, according to Mergermarket's league tables. The firm was involved in 1,062 transactions worldwide in 2023.
