DLA Piper advises Aurecon on major acquisition
Global law firm DLA Piper has advised design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon on the acquisition of Market Advisory Group (‘MAG’).
Market Advisory Group support clients on carbon markets insights, trading advice and strategies, procurement strategies and carbon risk assessments.
“We were really pleased to advise Aurecon on this strategic acquisition which will complement Aurecon’s existing capability and enable it to provide an even broader offering to its clients,” said Jyoti Singh, Partner, DLA Piper.
Jyoti said the transaction will enable the client to provide new offerings including advice and insights on carbon market dynamics and trading, carbon procurement strategies, carbon market risks and mitigation strategies, and analysis on policies and regulations.
The deal team was led by Melbourne-based Jyoti Singh (Partner). The team comprised Fleur Gibbons (Partner), Rick Catanzariti (Partner), Emma Kendall (Partner), Adam Smith (Partner), Nicole Breschkin (Senior Associate), Simon Rimmelzwaan (Senior Associate), Cameron Jones (Solicitor), Davina Khoo (Solicitor), and Beth Cole (Senior Associate).
This matter follows several recent transactions where DLA Piper has acted as legal adviser to Solar United Network Pte. Ltd. on its acquisition of the Merredin Solar Farm in Western Australia; ResApp Health Limited on its A$180 million cash acquisition by Pfizer Australia Holdings Pty Limited by a scheme of arrangement; and Nearmap on its AUD1.05 billion acquisition by US private equity firm Thoma Bravo.
For the 12th consecutive year, DLA Piper was the highest-ranked legal advisor in the world for M&A deal volume, according to Mergermarket's league tables. The firm was involved in 1,104 transactions worldwide in 2021, valued at approximately US$242 billion.
