Campos Mello Advogados and DLA Piper advise The Ardonagh Group in acquisition of MDS Group

Campos Mello Advogados, in cooperation with DLA Piper, represented independent insurance distribution platform and broker The Ardonagh Group on its acquisition of MDS Group, an insurance broker and risk management advisor active across the Portuguese-speaking world and Europe.

Headquartered in Porto, MDS also has offices in Brazil, where it is one of the country’s largest independent broker, as well as in Angola, Mozambique, Spain and Malta. It is the only Portuguese Lloyd’s broker. MDS will be acquired by Ardonagh Overseas Investments Ltd and operate as part of Ardonagh Global Partners.

The Campos Mello Advogados team was led by São Paulo-based partners Marcella Hill (Insurance) and Carolina Marcondes Sant’Angelo, and senior associate Adriana Kupper Pages (both Corporate). The DLA Piper team was led by Country Managing Partner in Portugal Nuno Azevedo Neves and included associates Nuno Castelo Branco (Corporate), Diogo Mendes Almeida (FPR), Margarida Sá Marques (Corporate) and André Feiteiro (FPR), among others. The full cross-border team also included lawyers from ADCA Advogados in Angola, SAL & Caldeira Advogados in Mozambique and Mamo TCV in Malta.
