Hire continues the growth of the firm’s Litigation and Regulatory practice in the region.

DLA Piper today announces it is strengthening its Southeast Asia Litigation and Regulatory practice with the addition of new partner Maurice Burke, who will serve as Head of Investigations for Asia and will be based in Singapore.

Maurice joins DLA Piper from Hogan Lovells in Singapore, where he has been a partner since 2014 and led the regional disputes practice. He began his career in 1997 at Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) and relocated to Singapore in 2003. Maurice has over 25 years of experience working in Asia.

Maurice advises multinational and diversified industrial clients on a broad range of investigations, white collar fraud, bribery, contentious regulatory and compliance matters across the region. Maurice is consistently ranked as a Band 1 practitioner in leading directories.

Co-Regional Managing Partner in Asia, Satpal Gobindpuri, said: “Southeast Asia is a strategic part of DLA Piper’s global offer, and in recognition of its high growth potential we continue to invest in senior lateral hires that both deepen and broaden our market-leading services in the region. Maurice’s strong network and excellent track record in his specialist field will help drive the growth of our compelling investigations offer across the region.”

DLA Piper’s Country Managing Partner in Singapore, Joe Bauerschmidt, added: “Maurice understands the market, his client’s regional problems and how to solve them. His arrival will add further value to clients in the region, will help extend our Southeast Asia footprint and provides a real boost to our Investigations and Dispute Resolution offering.”
