Tony Lin joins DLA Piper's Telecom practice in Washington, DC
DLA Piper announced today that Tony Lin has joined the firm’s Telecom practice, part of the firm’s global Intellectual Property and Technology practice, as a partner based in Washington, DC. The addition continues the growth of the firm’s award-winning Telecom group and further expands its capabilities to serve clients.
Lin represents new and established satellite and communications companies. He has assisted numerous NewSpace companies, including many smallsat entrepreneurs, in obtaining spectrum and imaging licenses for innovative satellite services, including radiofrequency sensing and geolocation; mission extension; synthetic aperture radar, hyperspectral, and multispectral imaging; on-orbit transportation and deployment; Internet of Things (IoT); weather forecasting; and orbital debris removal. He also has more than a decade of experience advising traditional satellite companies providing fixed-satellite service, broadcasting-satellite service, and mobile-satellite service.
Lin advises companies on policy and regulatory matters before US federal agencies and international organizations, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). He is currently serving a second term on the NOAA Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing (ACCRES), which advises NOAA on the regulation of commercial satellites conducting imaging operations in space.

Lin joins from Hogan Lovells US LLP. He received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Iowa and his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
