Global Tax Controversy and Disputes Survey 2024
Request a copy of our Global Tax Controversy and Disputes Survey 2024We are pleased to present the key findings from our 2024 Global Tax Controversy and Disputes Survey. This year’s survey highlights the increasingly complex global tax landscape and the rising challenges faced by multinational companies.
In the survey we examine how in-house tax experts are addressing these challenges and their outlook for what lies ahead.
Key highlights from the survey:
- Increased tax scrutiny: A significant majority of the 49 tax leaders we interviewed reported an upward trend in tax disputes and controversies, driven by heightened transparency and data sharing among tax authorities.
- Transfer pricing in focus: Despite expectations that transfer pricing (TP) audits might decline, our survey indicates that TP remains a primary area of concern, with high-tax and low-tax country transactions being the most scrutinised.
- Resource constraints: Many firms are under-equipped to handle the surge in tax queries, with only a few having dedicated senior individuals for audits and disputes.
- Strategic preparedness: Importance should be on placed on preparing a robust tax governance strategy and framework, including the need for a strong data strategy to manage compliance risks effectively.
