Corporate Human Rights Policies: The Union Strategy to Replace Voluntary Policies with Mandatory Measures (A webinar)
A CLE eventThursday, October 3, 2024
Companies operating in the consumer goods and retail sector have long faced pressure to commit to international human rights instruments such as the UN Global Compact, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and International Labour Organization conventions. With growing acceptance of these principles, labor unions, NGOs and activists now are looking to turn corporate commitments into legal obligations subject to arbitration and enforcement – which can lead to financial liability, brand damage, and new risks and obligations.
DLA Piper partner Joseph Turzi speaks on developments related to international labor standards and human rights, including:
- The push for global agreements and an enforceable model for arbitration
- Emerging trends in global union corporate campaigns, including litigation and regulatory challenges
- Strategies for recognizing and responding to campaigns and
- Considerations when entering commitments and drafting agreements related to human rights.
CLE credit was offered for this event.
