DLA Piper Charity Basketball Tournament 2023

September 19, 2023

The second DLA Piper Charity Basketball Tournament took place on September 19, 2023, at Hashalom Sports Arena in Tel Aviv. Ten top-tier Israeli law firms together raised NIS 150K to donate an inter-city ambucycle to United Hatzalah of Israel, as well as funds to help support Hatzalah's immediate campaign for the critical situation in Morocco following a devastating earthquake. The Tournament itself was a fast and furious 4-on-4 competition, with last year’s runner-up Gornitzky & Co. emerging as the winner. First-time Tournament participant S. Horowitz & Co. took second place.

Other participating law firms were Arnon, Tadmor-Levy; Barnea & Co.; Goldfarb Seligman; H-F & Co.; Naschitz, Brandes Amir Co.; Fischer (FBC); Furth, Wilensky, Mizrachi, Knaani (FWMK) Law Offices; and Shibolet.

We were honored to have United Hatzalah Founder and President Eli Beer present the ambucycle, dedicated by the firms and DLA Piper, at the end of the Tournament and share the impact of United Hatzalah across Israel (including the number of volunteers and lives saved). During the VIP Reception following the Tournament, the crowd heard inspirational words from American-Israeli basketball player, entrepreneur, and goodwill ambassador Tamir Goodman about the life-changing potential of basketball. Tamir’s nonprofit organization, Hoops for Kids, which uses basketball to reach children at risk throughout Israel.

It was an amazing night of competition, camaraderie, and charity.
