Abby Thompson is a compliance and regulatory associate in the National Security and Global Trade group at DLA Piper. As part of her practice, Abby advises a diverse range of clients on complex legal compliance issues, including those relating to economic sanctions involving the U.S. Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), supply chain issues involving forced labor laws including the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), and foreign direct investment filings before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Abby also has experience with developing government affairs strategies, including via U.S. Congressional, Executive, and agency outreach.
Abby earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a member of the Virginia Journal of International Law and the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. Prior to law school, Abby graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Tech with degrees in International Relations and National Security & Foreign Affairs.
