Sean Newland

Sean Newland is a dedicated and pragmatic problem-solver who resolves commercial, environmental and product-related litigation, enforcement and compliance issues in federal and state courts, administrative actions, and alternative dispute resolution forums, including arbitration and mediation. Sean guides clients through federal and state regulatory inquiries and investigations, including by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and regularly advises clients on compliance with global product safety laws and regulations, drawing on in-house experience as a secondee at a global e-commerce platform and product developer to find practical solutions to domestic and international compliance issues. 

Sean also has experience working with clients engaged in commodity markets, with a focus on energy and carbon markets, including building exchanges, advising on participation in regulatory compliance and voluntary carbon markets, structuring transactions, providing regulatory and commercial advice, and helping to navigate complex federal and state regulations.

Sean also advocates for and advises corporations and executives, private equity and venture entities and other businesses on insurance and indemnification matters. His experience spans a wide range of insurance products, including directors and officers liability insurance, representations and warranties insurance and other transactional products, and cyber insurance, and indemnification matters, including merger and acquisition, management, and standard commercial indemnities.
