Specifically, the dispute is an ICC arbitration over our client's entitlement to be compensated for the provision of its professional services under the OPF Contract which is a hybrid of lump sum, re-measure and reimbursable works scopes.

  • Advising a US-headquartered oil and gas exploration company in a major, high-risk dispute in the Queensland Supreme Court in respect of the APLNG CSG to LNG mega-project in Queensland. The dual proceedings concern interests in various CSG assets in the Surat and Bowen Basins in Queensland and the agreements which underpin those interests.*

  • Advising the owner in respect of the project set-up and development of a coal-seam gas (CSG) project in Queensland, including assisting to develop various master service agreements and call outs, and draft bespoke agreements, to enable rig, services and consultant procurement, and negotiated the legal and commercial terms of those agreements on behalf of the owner.*
  • Advising a multinational oil and gas company in relation to claims made by the contractor for the construction of an offshore LNG pipeline and associated facility. The project itself was (then) in excess of USD10bn.*
  • Advising the principal in a dispute with an Australian Tier-1 construction contractor for the construction of the onshore component of a bulk coal export terminal.*
  •  Advising a construction Joint Venture in relation to a large road tunnelling project in excess of USD1.5bn. The construction Joint Venture was comprised of two international construction contractors and a third local Queensland contractor and involved advising the Joint Venture in relation to issues upstream to the Government as owner, and downstream against sub-contractors. Laura’s involvement with this project included a lengthy in-project secondment. Laura continued to act for the JV at the completion of her secondment when she assisted the client to call on construction bank guarantees and successfully defend urgent injunction proceedings commenced by the subcontractor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in relation to the call on security.*
