DLA Piper advises TOMRA on a joint venture with Plastretur

DLA Piper has advised global sustainable technology company TOMRA on a joint venture with Plastretur to establish Norway's first dedicated sorting plant to enable circularity of plastic packaging.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to address the current practice of Norwegian plastic packaging being sent to Central Europe. With an estimated cost of approximately EUR50 million, the facility will have the capacity to sort up to 90,000 tons of plastic annually. The plant, located in Holtskogen Næringspark, Indre Østfold Holtskogen, Norway (near Oslo), is scheduled to be commissioned in Q4 2024 and fully operational by Q1 2025.

With the overall global client relationship with TOMRA being led by partner Dr Benjamin Parameswaran (Corporate/M&A, Hamburg), DLA Piper's team on this transaction was led by partner Christian P. N. Fenner (Corporate, Oslo) and included Country Managing Partner Kjetil Johansen, senioradvokat Katrine Lillerud (both Litigation &Regulatory, Oslo) and partner Fredrik Klebo-Espe (Corporate, Oslo).

The Tomra legal team was led by TOMRA Sorting General Counsel Dr Tanja Grotowsky.

Plastretur was represented by Advokatfirmaet Simonsen Vogt Wiig AS, with partner Fredrik Haberer Anfinsen.
