Diego is the location head of the Intellectual Property, Media, and Technology Department at DLA Piper Spain. With more than 35 years of experience, his expertise focuses on commercial and corporate law, intellectual property, technology, biotechnology and medical law, marketing, outsourcing, anti-money laundering, and data protection law.
Diego has extensive experience in litigation cases in Spain on these matters at all levels of jurisdiction (including the Audiencia Nacional and the Supreme Court). In addition, he advises many Spanish and international clients on these matters in both transactional and contentious contexts.
His previous experience as in-house counsel for a major international consultancy firm and for one of the largest banks in Spain gives him the perspective required for projects combining outsourcing and systems management. Diego currently holds the position of Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Spanish subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, one of the largest outsourcing groups in the world, as well as Clínica Baviera, the European leader in refractive surgery services. He has been cited as a leading outsourcing specialist in the prestigious European Legal Experts Guide.
He has also been a cybersecurity leader at DLA Piper Spain for more than a decade, training clients in cybersecurity. He has advised both nationally and internationally important Spanish and foreign companies on international hacking and data breach cases, such as fraudulent modification of website content, employee database theft and disclosure, identity theft, cybersecurity incidents related to the banking sector, and cases related to life sciences.
