Ian Doig has considerable experience in building and engineering particularly in energy and infrastructure related construction. His knowledge extends to advising on procurement strategies and the appropriate documentation to be adopted in order to implement those strategies.
In relation to the drafting of documents, Ian has prepared standard forms and bespoke construction and engineering contracts, professional appointments, parent company guarantees, bonds and collateral warranties. He also has considerable PFI experience dealing with project agreements and building subcontracts. Ian is also experienced in drafting, negotiation and finalisation of construction and engineering contracts in relation to infrastructure projects, building and refurbishment projects and process facilities.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Ian worked in house for a contractor for ten years in the construction and engineering sector advising on contracts and disputes and was responsible for a wide range of projects throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Far East.
Ian is a partner in our Construction and Engineering group and leads the Yorkshire based team.
Ian acts for a wide range of clients including banks, developers, local authorities, universities, major plcs, building contractors, subcontractors, PFI SPVs, mining companies and engineering companies.
