Kate Bresner has a practice focused on management-side employment and labour law.

Kate has experience advising clients on a broad range of employment and labour law matters, including issues that arise in hiring and termination, employment standards, the development of workplace policies, disability and accommodation, human rights, harassment and discrimination, investigations, workplace discipline, and collective bargaining. Kate regularly drafts employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, and workplace policies. She has represented clients before various levels of court and tribunals, including the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Kate practiced employment and labour law at both a large global employment and labour law firm and a regional full-service firm. She also articled at a union-side labour firm and worked in-house at a regional police service. During law school, Kate was editor-in-chief of the International Human Rights Program’s Rights Review magazine.
