DLA Piper announces strategic leadership appointments in Luxembourg

Global law firm DLA Piper has announced the promotions of two business operations professionals to new roles within its Luxembourg office. Thierry Wonner, former Head of Finance, has stepped into the position of Head of Operations, succeeding Axelle Ferey. Axelle Ferey has transitioned to an international role as Head of International IM&F Strategy Delivery and Development.

Axelle Ferey was the first Head of Operations for the Luxembourg office between 2020 and 2024. She will now focus on expanding and enhancing DLA Piper’s international strategy in the newly formed Investment Management and Funds sector. Her visionary approach will be instrumental in positioning the firm as a leader in this evolving industry. With nearly thirty years in financial services and asset management across Europe, the United States, and Africa, Axelle has demonstrated her ability to drive progress and excellence. Axelle joined DLA Piper in September 2020 from KPMG in Paris, where she was Head of Regulatory Advisory Asset Management. Before that, she spent several years with EY Luxembourg, contributing to the successful transposition of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive locally.

Thierry Wonner joined DLA Piper in October 2020 as Head of Finance. Leveraging on a strong background in finance, Thierry is well positioned to drive operational efficiency within the Luxembourg office. His career began at EY Luxembourg, where he spent almost seven years developing his expertise in auditing and financial management. He then became Finance Manager of a fast-growing data centre with operations spanning several continents.
