About

Nicholas Turner has over 20 years experience working in employment and executive remuneration and employee incentives and has worked extensively in Australia, Asia and London.  He is qualified in both Australia and the United Kingdom and was previously a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong.

Nicholas is known for his hands-on, pragmatic approach to advising clients in complex and sensitive matters.

Nicholas advises on the full range of employment and workplace issues including senior executive contracts, remuneration and incentive structures, managing senior executive exits, workplace change management, workplace disputes, strategic enterprise bargaining and responding to industrial action workplace investigations and discrimination and harassment claims as well as day-to-day employment matters.  His experience extends to cross border projects, employment and employee benefits and incentive aspects of corporate transactions and employee transfers, outsourcing arrangements and restructurings. 

Nicholas advises clients on key employee retention arrangements and the enforcement of and defending post-employment restrictive covenant claims including advising clients on the protection of their business interests through the drafting and enforcement of post-employment restrictive covenants.  He is also instructed ‘off panel’ to act for employers on complex, high value and sensitive employment disputes.

Nicholas operates across a range of sectors including banking and financial services (including various US and European investment banks; private equity firms; retail banks; hedge funds; broker-dealers and stock-brokers), insurance (insurers, re-insurers and insurance brokers), professional services (both consultancy and accountancy firms), stevedoring, mining, manufacturing, technology, retail and life sciences (including brand and generic pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers).

Nicholas represents employers in legal proceedings in courts and tribunals in various jurisdictions.

Nicholas is a member of the Australian Labour Law Association, Employment Lawyers Association, and European Employment Lawyers Association.  He was also the Executive Editor of the UNSW Law Journal.
