Alvaro Sarmiento advises clients on national and international financing, including financing through public and private placement of securities, credits, and structured financing.

Alvaro has a broad practice focused on structured finance, where he represents issuers and investors in domestic and cross-border structured and asset-backed finance transactions in both public and private deals.

EXPERIENCE

  • Assisted Credito Real in the creation of a Mx$10 billion pesos securitization program and the first and second issuances of notes under such program through a public offering in Mexico for Mx$2 billion pesos.

  • Represented Arrendamas in the creation of a Mx$5 billion pesos securitization program and the first and second issuances of notes under such program through a public offering for Mx$1.37 billion pesos.

  • Advised ABC Leasing in the creation of a Mx$1.5 billion pesos securitization program and the first issuance of notes under such program through a public offering for Mx$500 million pesos.

  • Acted as Mexican counsel to Vitro in the launching of a USD$180 million dollars cross border program for the sale of accounts receivable originated by Mexican, American, and Canadian subsidiaries.

  • Advised Arrendamas company in a Mx$1 billion pesos asset backed financing with the Interamerican Development Bank.

  • Represented 123 Leasing in a US$50 million dollars cross border asset backed financing.

  • Advised Consubanco in in the issuance through a public offering in Mexico of Mx$700 million 3-year notes.

  • Assisted a hotel developer in a USD$125 million dollars loan refinancing backed by accounts receivable.

  • Assisted a hotel developer in a USD$30 million dollars loan for the acquisition of a hotel in the Riviera Maya.

  • Assisted Fimubac in the creation of a Mx$10 billion pesos securitization program and the first and second issuances of notes under such program through a public offering in Mexico for Mx$2 billion pesos.

  • Advised an investment fund in the negotiation of a $600 million pesos loan backed with accounts receivable.

Prior Experience

Before joining DLA Piper Alvaro worked in a Mexican law firm where he co-led the firm’s securities and securitizations practices. Between 2006-2008 Alvaro worked in the New York office of a highly regarded American law firm.
