Matt represents clients in intellectual property litigation, with a predominant focus on patents in a variety of technologies, including software, medical devices, and vehicles.  Matt regularly represents clients in the District of Delaware and has developed an in-depth knowledge of Delaware’s Judges and procedures.  Matt also represents clients in a variety of U.S. District Courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in post-grant proceedings.

Matt maintains an active pro bono practice.  He has represented individuals and non-profits in guardianship, prisoners’ rights, and intellectual property matters.  

During law school, Matt externed for the Honorable Raymond T. Chen of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Honorable Joseph N. Laplante of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Represented multinational vehicle manufacture in district court as defendant and before the PTAB as petitioner.  Assisted in securing successful dismissal of three patents under 35 U.S.C. § 101 at the motion to dismiss stage.  This matter is ongoing.    
  • Represented betting software company in patent litigation in district court as plaintiff and before the PTAB as patent owner. Assisted in securing multiple denials of institution of inter partes review.  This matter is ongoing.  
  • Represented industry-leading cybersecurity software company in patent litigation in district court as defendant and before the PTAB as petitioner.  Secured successful institution of inter partes review.  This matter is ongoing. 
  • Represented industry-leading medical device company in district court as defendant and before the PTAB as petitioner.  This matter is ongoing.
