Emer advises domestic and international clients on all aspects of litigation, and has a particular focus on large-scale high-value commercial disputes.

She advises clients at all levels of the court system, including the Superior Courts, and on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in Ireland.

Emer has advised clients across a wide range of sectors, including energy and natural resources, technology, consumer goods, food and retail, financial services and media, sport and entertainment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a client in the consumer goods, food and retail sector in relation to injunction proceedings issued in the Irish High Court following the termination of a distribution agreement with an exclusive distributor. 
  • Advising a renewable energy company in relation to Judicial Review proceedings in the Commercial Court division of the Irish High Court challenging a decision of the State energy regulator in relation to the implementation of a key Regulation under the EU's Clean Energy Package. 
  • Advising a client in the financial services sector in relation to a statutory inquiry commenced by the Irish Data Protection Commissioner.
  • Advising a provider of insurance and reinsurance in relation to claims brought by Irish aviation lessors following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Litigation has been instigated by policyholders in Ireland, the UK and the US.  
  • Advising clients in the technology sector on the implementation of the EU’s Digital Services Act and Ireland’s Online Safety and Media Regulation Act. 
  • Advising an international NGO in relation to the termination of a trademark license agreement. Litigation has been commenced in Ireland and the UK. 
  • Advising a client in the Infrastructure, Construction and Transport sector in relation to proceedings issued in the Irish High Court arising out of the supply of defective materials. Related proceedings have been issued in the UK. 
  • Advising a client in the life sciences sector in relation to a dispute arising from its establishment of a manufacturing facility in Ireland.
