About

Elinor is a bilingual Associate Lawyer (fluent in English and Welsh and proficient in French) in the Intellectual Property, Media, Sport & Entertainment (MSE) practice.

Elinor has experience of advising on contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters (including trade marks, copyright and designs) as well as advertising law matters.

As a trainee, Elinor spent 6 months on secondment to Unilever's Global Home Care legal team, during which, Elinor advised advertising matters such as "green" claims and COVID-19 claims, brand protection matters and a range of commercial agreements. In Spring 2023, Elinor spent two months on secondment to DLA Piper's Hong Kong office.

Elinor is currently on a part-time secondment to the All England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon) where she is drafting and negotiating a variety of sports and media, licensing, supplier, sponsorship and e-sports agreements and advising on a variety of legal and commercial matters.

Elinor has a particular interest in the Media, Sport and Entertainment sector and regularly contributes to DLA Piper's MSE Today blog. Elinor is also an active member of DLA Piper's women in sports initiative.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a variety of clients in the sports, financial services and consumer goods, food and retail sectors in relation to UK and EU trade mark clearance searches, filings, oppositions and enforcement matters.
  • Managing the global trade mark portfolios of multi-national companies such as HSBC, Karium and Gettaxi and advising them on trade mark prosecution.
  • Advising a variety of clients in relation to advertising matters including global advertising law guidance, ASA complaints, carbon-neutral claims, greenwashing in the financial services sector and national and multi-jurisdictional prize promotions.
  • Representing international technology and manufacturing company on Community Registered Design invalidation action.
  • Advising the Football Association Premier League in relation to copyright enforcement matters.
  • Represented John Lobb S.A.S (subsidiary of Hermès) in ongoing High Court litigation with John Lobb Limited relating to the ownership of rights in the "John Lobb" brand.
  • Represented Honeywell in offensive and defensive multi-jurisdictional patent infringement litigations. Elinor worked with DLA Piper colleagues in the UK, the US, Germany and China.

Elinor is a regular contributor to DLA Piper's MSE Today – Media, Sport and Entertainment Insights blog covering sport, media, IP and advertising matters and to articles on Lexology covering sport, media, IP and advertising matters.
In addition, Elinor contributed to DLA Piper's Racism in Sport Options Paper and to New Perimeter's comparative study on Advancing Menstrual Health, Education and Economic Progress.
