DLA Piper advises EWE Go on the conclusion of cooperation agreements with supermarket chain

DLA Piper has advised EWE Go GmbH (EWE Go), the mobility subsidiary of EWE AG, on the conclusion of the cooperation agreements with a supermarket chain operating in Germany. The parties have agreed to a strategic partnership to further expand a high-performance and Germany-wide charging network.

Over the next few years, EWE Go will install and operate fast-charging stations at several hundred stores throughout Germany. The partnership will also include needs-based location planning for each store. The publicly accessible charging stations will be operated using 100% green electricity and will provide a charging capacity of at least 150 kilowatts. This will allow electric cars to be almost fully charged during shopping.

The DLA Piper team advises EWE Go on an ongoing basis on contractual and regulatory issues in the field of electromobility and has already advised EWE Go in the past on the conclusion of similar co-operations, including with a restaurant chain operating in Germany.

EWE AG is a leading company in the German energy industry with its headquarters in Oldenburg. With over 10,000 employees and a turnover of over EUR10 billion in the 2023 financial year, EWE AG covers various business areas, including energy networks, telecommunications, information technology, mobility and hydrogen. This broad base enables EWE AG to cover all important steps for a sustainable and future-oriented energy supply. Through its mobility subsidiary EWE Go, products and services related to e-mobility are offered in Germany. The aim of EWE Go's business activities is to make e-mobility more accessible and easier to use for everyone.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner Michael Cieslarczyk and counsel Christopher Ollech with associates Dr Elisabeth Spiecker and Niklas Cöln (all Energy, Dusseldorf/Cologne) in the core team.
