DLA Piper's Vincent Keaveny receives CBE in King's Birthday Honours List

DLA Piper partner, Vincent Keaveny, has been awarded a CBE in King Charles III’s inaugural Birthday Honours List. He was given the award for services to Socio-Economic Advancement, British-Irish relations, and for his work for the City of London.

Vincent held office as Lord Mayor from November 2021 for a year, acting as elected head of the City of London Corporation and global ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services sector. During his term, he championed greater socio-economic diversity in the sector and co-chaired the Government-commissioned taskforce on the issue. He is also the first Irish citizen to serve as Lord Mayor of the City of London and worked tirelessly to foster warm relations between the UK and Ireland during his time in office.

The honour was approved by His Majesty The King following a recommendation made by the Prime Minister on the advice of the Main Honours Committee, which undertook an independent assessment to review the nomination from the Cabinet Office. He will receive the CBE insignia in person at an investiture held by a Member of the Royal Family in due course.

In addition, next week Vincent Keaveny will receive an honour from the Vatican, being awarded the Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory the Great (KCSG) from Cardinal Nichols on behalf of the Pope. Papal awards are made to lay people, mainly of the Roman Catholic faith but also to those of other Christian denominations and other faiths, in recognition of an individual’s pre-eminent service to their community or faith.
