DLA Piper expands its Corporate Practice with the addition of Michael McGuinness and Marcello Hallake in New York
DLA Piper is pleased to welcome New York-based partners Michael McGuinness and Marcello Hallake to the firm’s Corporate practice.
McGuinness and Hallake are leading cross-border and international corporate attorneys focused on high profile global M&A transactions. They each bring more than 25 years of experience leading and managing transformative cross-border M&A transactions and providing high value corporate advice to global clients, including in Europe and Latin America.
McGuinness’s notable experience includes representing Verizon in its US$5 billion sale of its wireless tower portfolio to American Tower; representing Signature Aviation in its US$1.4 billion sale of Ontic to CVC Capital; representing Sonepar Group in its sale of Vallen Distribution to Nautic Partners; and representing Anglo American plc in its US$5.4 billion sale to Mitsubishi of a 24.5 percent stake in Anglo American Sur, a Chilean copper mining company.
Hallake advises clients across a variety of industries, including energy, food supply, telecommunications, technology and infrastructure. Some of his recent notable experience includes leading the team that advised ENGIE in a winning bid to acquire TAG from Petrobas for US$8.6 billion in a competitive auction, the largest cash acquisition and privatization transaction in Brazil; representing JBS in its acquisition of Dutch plant-based food manufacturer Vivera in an auction; and representing TotalEnergies in connection with a strategic alliance and investment in the Dominican Republic.
