DLA Piper advises Hive Energy on the sale of the UK's largest solar park Cleve Hill to Quinbrook

DLA Piper has advised Hive Energy on its disposal of the UK’s largest solar park, Cleve Hill, to Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners.

Once operational, Cleve Hill will be able to generate 350MW of clean energy to power over 91,000 homes. The project, situated on the north Kent coast, won't require any government subsidies and aims to be one of the lowest cost generators of electricity in the UK.

The project is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) and was the first of its kind to be granted development consent by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in May 2020, making it the largest consented solar scheme in the UK.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner and co-head of the firm’s Infrastructure, Construction and Transport sector in Europe, Fredrik Lindblom, alongside Corporate partner Victoria Rhodes and senior associate Simon Winterburn.

Commenting, Fredrik Lindblom, said: “The disposal marks a significant milestone in the development of this pioneering and innovative renewables project, which will help reduce carbon emissions from the power sector.”
